Made for Living

A Piece That Becomes Yours

What makes a favorite bag, wallet, or chair? It’s the one you reach for every day—the one that fits seamlessly into your life. Over time, it takes on your story, growing richer with every use. Thoughtfully crafted with intention, our pieces ensure that what you love today remains a favorite for years to come.

Uncompromising Quality,
Made to Last

The difference is in the details. We source the world’s finest leather from family-owned tanneries and craft each piece in small batches—choosing craftsmanship over shortcuts, quality over quantity. The result? Timelessly-styled pieces that stand the test of time, growing more beautiful with every passing year.

“Things that matter, last. And things that last, matter.”

— Sackett Wood, Moore & Giles CEO

Our Story

As experts in leather, Moore & Giles CEO Sackett Wood and President Tray Petty spent decades sourcing and developing the finest leather. Their deep appreciation for craftsmanship set a high bar—one they couldn’t find in travel goods. So in 2007, they set out to change that.

What began with reimagining luggage has grown into a collection designed for every part of life. From bags to furniture to home goods, each piece reflects the same dedication to quality that has defined Moore & Giles since 1933.

Our Practices

the Making of Moore & Giles

1933

In the heart of the Great Depression, Donald Graeme Moore founded Moore & Giles in Lynchburg, Virginia. With a sharp eye for quality and a deep understanding of leather, he set out to supply the finest materials to shoemakers across the East Coast. Even in uncertain times, his passion for craftsmanship never wavered.

1935-1966

In 1935, Donald Moore's son-in-law, W. Vernon Giles, joined the business, forming Moore & Giles. Their reputation for quality and integrity grew. In 1966, Donald retired, passing the company to his grandson, Donald Moore Giles, who shaped it into a leader in luxury leather.

1980s-1990s

As the American shoe industry declined, we adapted, turning our focus to the world of furniture. Designers and artisans quickly embraced the character of our natural, beautifully tanned leathers, making Moore & Giles the go-to name in home furnishings. By the 1990s, our influence expanded to the most luxurious hotels, private jets, and exclusive restaurants—spaces where design and quality matter most.

2007

Our expertise in leather led us somewhere personal—your everyday life. Frustrated by the lack of quality luggage options, CEO Sackett Wood and President Tray Petty created a collection of heirloom-quality bags crafted from the same exquisite leather trusted by the world’s top designers. The result? Travel bags and accessories designed to age beautifully and become a part of your story.
