Behind the Design: The Mondo Quinn Commuter Backpack

You wanted to hold more while you explore, so we expanded some more - meet the Mondo Quinn! Based on our iconic Quinn Backpack, we asked our Director of Branded Design, Thomas Brennan, what inspired him to take it to a new level.

THE HISTORY

The original Quinn backpack came from a desire to transpose the polish and sophistication of our briefcases onto a backpack. The style won raves as a work bag, but perhaps was too sleek and compact to travel with. I want to take my Quinn everywhere, particularly as my carry-on, so I began designing a long-haul version that became the Mondo Quinn.

WHAT'S NEW

In designing the Mondo Quinn, we wanted to add more capacity. We nudged up a few of the dimensions of the original and added more storage to either side of the exterior; nice spots for smaller items you like having close at hand. We also added a luggage strap along the back panel to make the Mondo Quinn as travel- friendly as possible.

THE LEATHER

The leather is soft, smooth, Baldwin Oak, which coordinates perfectly with a wide range of other bags in our collection, creating an impeccable travel set. For instance, the Mondo Quinn's new luggage strap slides right over the handle of the Parker Rolling Suitcase. Or, if you're traveling lighter, it looks great alongside the Booker Cabin Duffel.
